  • Is Dr. Parsons accepting new patients?

    Yes, Dr. Parsons is accepting new patients, ages 16 and older, in Kentucky, Indiana, or Alabama. 

  • Is Dr. Parsons board certified?

    Yes, she is boarded in Psychiatry & Neurology, Consult Liaison Psychiatry, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine.

  • Does Dr. Parsons have a specialty?

    Yes! Dr. Parsons has completed additional training in Consult Liaison Psychiatry, Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and Interventional Psychiatry. This additional training provided expert training in the psychiatric care of medically complicated or fragile patients. She has done extensive training, research, and clinical practice with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. She is also an advocate for other types of interventional treatment, including IV Ketamine, Spravato, and Psilocybin, among others.

  • Is Dr. Parsons seeing patients in the office or virtually?

    Both! She is seeing patients virtually through the EMR (Tebra) and in person at her Louisville (St. Matthews) location. 

  • Where is Dr. Parsons' Office?

    Building

    Our location is 4010 Dupont Circle, Suite 567 (5th floor), in the Professional Towers building. There are parking lots in the front and the back; there is an elevator to the 5th floor.

  • Does Dr. Parsons work with most insurances?

    Dr. Parsons does NOT contract directly with insurance companies. Cash payment or HSA (health savings account) payment is required at the time of treatment; you may then request reimbursement through your insurance company, under OUT OF NETWORK benefits.


    **Medicaid and Medicare patients are not allowed to be seen under this arrangement due to federal law.

  • How do I get reimbursed from my insurance company?

    Dr. Parsons' staff will provide a Superbill that includes receipt of payment that you can submit to insurance for reimbursement. If your insurance company needs to know CPT codes for visits, let them know that 90792/99203-5 (initial evaluation), 99213 (straight-forward follow-up), 99214 (complicated follow-up), and 90833 (psychotherapy add on) are the codes primarily used for most visits. 


    There is NO GUARANTEE that your insurance company will reimburse your out of pocket cost. That negotiation is between you and your insurance company.

  • What is the cost of a psychiatric appointment with Dr. Parsons?

    An initial psychiatric evaluation is $339 for a 45-minute appointment. Follow-up psychiatric visits are $149 for a 20-minute appointment. An initial PTSD screening appointment is $249 for a 25 minute appointment. Follow-up PTSD appointments are $149 for a 20 minute appointment.

  • How do I make an appointment?

    You may fill out the “contact me” form on the website or call/text 502-509-5007. Dr. Parsons' staff will call you back the next business day.

  • How do I pay?

    There are several ways to pay on your account:

    1. Under the "Current Patients" section on the website, you can hit the button "Pay My Bill" and enter the amount you would like to pay. Typically, $100 to schedule a new patient appointment, $149 for a follow-up appointment, $339 for a new patient appointment. You may also pay a different amount based on payment plan or sliding scale.

  • What platform does Dr. Parsons use for EMR and Telehealth?

  • What do I do if I'm having a psychiatric emergency?

    Dr. Parsons runs a small, non-emergent outpatient practice. If you have any needs that can't wait until the next business day and/or if you are having suicidal thoughts, please go to your nearest emergency room or call 911.

  • What is a DO?

    A Doctor of Osteopathy is a medically trained and licensed physician who has graduated from an osteopathic medical school, focused on a holistic approach to medicine.

  • Does Dr. Parsons prescribe medicinal cannabis?

    Yes. Dr. Parsons is registered with the Kentucky Medical Cannabis Program. Per state regulations, patients must carry a diagnosis of PTSD (only psychiatric diagnosis on the state approved list of diagnoses), be an established patient of Dr. Parsons' practice, and exhibit symptoms for which medicinal cannabis would provide symptom relief.
